The 25th Anniversary is such a tremendous milestone and it is overwhelming to think back over the numerous changes that have occurred since opening the doors in 1992. The name of the agency was originally the Rape Crisis Centre Timmins, with a staff of 3 women offering sexual assault counseling and support. We became Timmins and Area Women in Crisis in 1996. Since then, we have continued to support sexual assault survivors through our counseling program, although over the years we have added a Clothing Exchange Program, Aboriginal Programming, H.E.R. Place Women’s Shelter, Family Court Programming, Musk Quat Transition Home and multiple support groups to our ever-growing list
of programs and services. We are now a group of 24 staff and 22 volunteers. Yes, we’ve grown and we are proud to be an integral part of the social service network in the Timmins area.
With this growth, there is tremendous gratitude that must be expressed to those involved with making it happen over the years and those who continue to be committed to the future growth of the agency.
