H.E.R. Place Women’s Shelter

H.E.R. Place is an accessible emergency anti-violence shelter for all women and their children who are experiencing intimate partner physical, sexual, emotional or financial abuse and/or stalking. Our staff provide 24-hour support and information to women to assist them in making healthy choices and achieving their goals. The location of the shelter is not publicized and our services are free.

Our Services:

Shelter residents have access to all programs and services offered by TAWC, including, but not limited to:

  • Immediate telephone support through our 24-hour Crisis Line
  • Accompaniment, advocacy and referrals
  • Risk assessment and safety planning for you and your children
  • 24 hour one-to-one support
  • Assistance with custody and child support issues
  • Assistance with finding housing
  • Assistance with getting financial support

Who can access the Shelter

Women and children who are fleeing violence or abuse from an Intimate Partner relationship are eligible for shelter residence. Staff will determine final eligibility via phone once women provide information about their situation.

What Shelter Living is like

Shelter living is communal. That means, residents live together, share space and support one another. Having access to all other TAWC programs, residents are provided with links and connections as a channel to independent living, free from violence.
