A Free Service for Low Income Women
Open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 12:30pm
Description of our Program
The exchange program is a free service designed to assist low income women and their families with basic practical assistance. We carry a variety of clothes for the entire family. We carry baby items, linen, bedding, footwear, children’s books, toys, and a variety of nick knacks and small household items.
The program is designed to serve the population of women who live on or below the poverty line. This includes women who work for minimum wage, women on assistance, women leaving abusive relationships, young women needing clothes for school and single women starting families.
The program is run by volunteers and is financially supported through our fundraising efforts. All the clothes and merchandise are donated by the community.
All items are carefully sorted. Stained or damaged items are removed and the clothes are hung on hangers. We take great care to ensure our program is organized, clean and the items on display are of good quality.
Women are free to shop without supervision and are able to take what they need. All we ask if that you keep the area tidy and do not remove our hangers.
We accept clothing for all members of the family. It is very important that the clothes are clean and in good condition. We appreciate receiving clothing that has been neatly folded and packed with care.
Household items and nick knacks look much better on our shelves when they have been cleaned and or dusted.
Adult pocket books, children’s books and toys that are in good condition are welcomed. We have a kids’ corner set aside for the children.
We care about the quality of this merchandise because we believe that wealth should not be a condition for respect. Far too often people who live in poverty are judged unfairly when in many cases it is a failure of our social systems that have contributed to their situations.
